A ball with an initial velocity of V, rolling on a flat surface will roll in a straight line and come to a stop.
If you imagine a slightly inclined ramp, with a clock face on it, the axis between 12 and 6 being straight up and down the slope of the ramp:
- A ball with an initial velocity of V, rolling from 6:00 towards the center will roll in a straight line and come to a stop.
- A ball with an initial velocity of V, rolling from 12:00 towards the center will roll in a straight line and come to a stop.
- A ball with an initial velocity launched from 12:01 to 5:59 will NOT move in a straight line. Since the ball moves on across the inclined, it will bend towards the down hill side due to gravity.
The only forces acting on the ball are gravity and friction from the rolling surface.
I am seeking a model (MatLab or Excel) that accurately predicts how the ball will roll in space.

- Initial Speed
- Slope of ramp
- Coefficient of friction of surface
- Initial launch angle
