We have a website (a SaaS) on which various users can create and edit a dictionary of their creation. The data for their dictionaries are saved on a central server, in a MySQL database.
We need the capability of allowing each user to create their own websites to display their dictionaries, while maintaining the data on the central server.
In order to do so, we need to allow their websites to access our central MySQL database. We believe the best thing to do is to create an API that will allow them to do so.
We need a system by which we can provide them with code that they can include on their pages. This code will access the needed fields on our MySQL database and return the raw data to them.
This needs to be done in a way that is SECURE. And, if possible, in a way that allows sites not written in PHP to also access the data.
