Wordpress WooCommerce web site has timeout problems

I have a busy ecommerce web site that is suffering from occasional slow speeds and time outs despite plenty of server resources. The problem seems to be database related. Looking for a Wordpress, WooCommerce expert with knowledge of Linux server on Centos7 using php fpm. The database is mariadb.
