Website update and development
Budget: €1,500 – €3,000 EUR
1 – UPDATE - It is important to be able to add features and updates fast and efficiently. The current framework is Zend (if I am not mistaken) and the first step I think should be to updated to something current and most importantly fast to develop and with a large marked base support. With that in mind I believe there are three options, and I need you opinion about which one to choose thinking about the future:
– Laminas (from what I can see not very used)
– Symfony (more widely used)
– Laravel (the most used from what I can see)
The following criteria must be taken into consideration:
1 – We have our own system and on the server with the website (Red Hat Server) we also have our online shop (not yet working) so upgrading one must not compromise the other. With that in mind it is possible for me to install a new server just for the site if needed. So, it is critical to know the requirements for updating (PHP Version, MySQL, Apache, etc).
I will describe later on the other priorities but one of them is the capacity to add a solution to make bookings and payments (I believe there may already exist some developed plugins to accomplish this but I don’t know exactly which and to what frameworks) so the choice of the framework should take this into consideration.
After thinking it over I believe that it would be easier to integrate bookings and payments specific for the products/services on our website using something similar to what one of out competitors is doing that relating this to the online shop
The example I am talking about is https://anthiadiving.com/index.php/experience-scuba/try-dive/ and what we need is something similar that we can add to the existing website, we need to discuss this in detail when we get there
2 – Google SEO – We want to increase our reach and I know that the following issues exist:
- Webmaster Errors – When I got to the google webmaster page there are a lot of pages with errors, we need to correct all of that
- Sitemap – I am sure the sitemap is not being updated (it should be generated by the website) because if you look at the last submissions the number of pages is always the same and we have been adding a lot of content
- Optimization – Framework related making sure the latest SEO practices are followed (we just need to know what to update content wise)
3 – Booking and Payments – we need to have the ability to be able to accept online bookings and payments using credit card and other ways (we have some specific Portuguese methods)
So, these are the three main priorities (each one has a lot of details that we will cover in detail) but first I need a rough estimate of the following:
1 – Your ability and willingness to go forward with this, remember my background is IT systems and one of my partners (he does not work full time in Haliotis, was a developer) so we need to know the technical details
2 – Estimated price and your monthly proposal look like a good option
3 – Time estimates for each one of the tasks
