Update PHP Code to access SFTP/SSH instead of FTP

We have a cron job that runs daily to access a secure server and download certain files. This secure server has recently changed their access requirements to only accept connections using SFTP (while previously it accepted FTP). We are still running on PHP 5.3 and believe we need help installing the necessary SSH config files to support the new code as well.
