URGENT HELP: Wordpress website down. Strange multiple MySQL processes. Need fix

I have a Wordpress website that is currently down. This website is hosted on a VPS. I have contacted my hosting company and they mentioned that the server is down because there are too many MySQL processes running. And as such the server memory has been exhausted. I need to kill off some of these processes.
I managed to do it myself via going to my WHM's terminal and kill off the many mysql processes. After which, I restart MySQL server and website will load (albeit very slowly). After some time, the many processes come back again causing the website to go down again.
I need help to resolve this. Would need someone familiar with Wordpress, MySQL and Wordpress backend to check the issue and solve it for me. You should also let me know what went wrong and advise me on what I should do in the future to avoid this same issue again.
I need this done urgently. Candidates who can start work immediately and can help me resolve within 24h will be highly considered.
