Hey! I’m looking for a developer to help me with an issue tied to how social media apps open links. I run my business primarily through social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.), and I have a Linktree in my bio where potential clients click to access my booking links.
Here’s the problem: When someone clicks my Linktree (or my website) from my social media bio, it opens inside the app’s in-app browser instead of opening externally in Safari or Chrome. Then, when they click my affiliate/co-branded booking links (specifically for Sandals and Beaches resorts), the cookie doesn’t fire properly in the in-app browser—which means I don’t get commission credit if they book.
I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way, either through code or settings:
To force the Linktree link itself to open externally (outside the in-app browser), OR
If that’s not possible, is there a way to have a link on my own website (once they’ve landed there) open externally in the default browser when they click it, even if my site originally opened inside the app’s browser?
Is this something you’ve worked on before, or do you think it’s technically possible? Would love to explore solutions if so! Thanks so much for your time.
