Smart Surveillance for Criminal Detection & Tracking
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Guardian Eye – Smart Surveillance for Criminal Detection & Tracking
I’m proud to share a major milestone in my academic journey!
This is a graduation-level project I’m currently working on in my second year at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence – Delta University for Science and Technology, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hesham Arafat Ali.
Project Title: Guardian Eye – Smart Surveillance for Criminal Detection & Tracking
What is Guardian Eye?
It’s an intelligent real-time surveillance system that uses AI and computer vision to detect, recognize, and track individuals – with the goal of enhancing public safety through automated monitoring and behavioral analysis.
My Role:
I was responsible for developing the Back-End of the entire system, including:
Building a Flask-based web server to handle real-time video processing and database interaction
Implementing the facial recognition pipeline using the face_recognition library
Developing secure facial login functionality for administrators
Creating API endpoints for registering and updating subjects
Integrating the whole backend with a smooth and secure front-end experience
Core Features:
Face Detection & Recognition: Identifies individuals and matches them with the database
Face & Body Tracking: Continuous monitoring even in challenging conditions (occlusions, lighting)
Real-time Alerts: Instant visual and sound alerts for registered subjects
Web-Based Dashboard: Admin interface for registration, monitoring, and data management
Secure Facial Login: Adds an extra layer of authentication for admin access
Tech Stack:
Python | Flask | OpenCV | face_recognition | MediaPipe | Norfair | HTML | CSS | JavaScript
Special Thanks:
I’d like to sincerely thank my amazing teammates for their dedication, collaboration, and continuous support throughout the project:
Guardian Eye Team:
Ahmed Khalid Samy
Manar Bahgat Abdel-Fattah
Rawan Sameh El-Khwaga
Waleed Ayman Abdel-Wahab
Menna Mahmoud Mohamed
Ezzeldin Kareem (me )
