Slow codeigniter site needs some serious tuning

As the title says it, i run a codeigniter site with around 1 milion database rows and its performing quite bad. Your task is to analyze and increase the performance. The database will continue to grow so it must be optimized well. Looking for someone that has great CI knowledge and mysql tuning!
