ABOUT THE POSITION
We are hiring a PHP Developer to work on two key systems:
- A Laravel-based travel management system
- A custom-coded backend & frontend CMS for travel-related data
This is a part-time position (minimum 10 hours per week) with the potential to grow into a full-time role. You will have long-term earning potential with us if you are exceptional at your work and deliver real results.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Working on a mix of new development (20%) and feature enhancements & bug fixes (80%)
- Writing clean, modular, and well-documented code
- Managing code using Git & SVN repositories
- Working exclusively on provided staging/sandbox servers (No local development)
- Meeting strict deadlines and managing multiple projects efficiently
- Conducting your unit testing and QA before submitting work
WHAT YOU MUST BRING TO THE TABLE
- Proven experience as a PHP developer (you will need to show work history, references, and past projects)
- Deep knowledge of Laravel, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, and RESTful APIs
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot code that you didn’t write
- Experience with WordPress development (custom plugins, theme functions, etc.) is a plus
- A highly detail-oriented work style
- Ability to follow instructions exactly (seriously, read the HOW TO APPLY section carefully)
- Strong communication and time management skills
HOW TO APPLY (Read This Carefully – Not Following Instructions = Immediate Rejection)
- Address your cover letter to ‘Mr. Jim & Mrs. Tina’, your primary contacts for this role.
- Do NOT send links to past work—we will request those later if needed.
- Tell us about your favorite custom development project (briefly) and why you enjoyed it. You may include one link if applicable.
- Tell us about your least favorite project and why you didn’t enjoy it (no links needed).
- Confirm that you can work at least 3.5 hours per day overlapping with 9AM-5PM US Eastern Time.
- Tell us the most recent thing you’ve learned in PHP/Ajax.
- Tell us your favorite editor/IDE for coding.
- Include the name of the SVN client you use in the body of your letter.
WHO SHOULD NOT APPLY
- You consider yourself a ‘jack of all trades’ but not a master of PHP.
- You just had to Google “SVN repository” or “IDE”
- You can’t meet deadlines or make more excuses than progress.
- You don’t follow instructions (again, see the HOW TO APPLY section).
- You’re looking for a short-term gig—we’re investing in someone long-term.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Hours: Minimum 10 per week, up to 30.
- Work Schedule: You may set your own schedule. For team communications, we ask you to be available for at least 3.5 hours per day, overlapping 9AM-5PM US Eastern Time.
- Flexibility: While we offer flexibility, meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work is non-negotiable.
If you are looking for a serious opportunity where your skills and hard work will be valued, apply now and show us what you can do. If you just send a generic application, don’t expect a response. ?
