Scrape data from standardized email and write to Google Sheet
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
We are a service company and we get job requests from different portals. It is time consuming to manually create job offers for each prospective customer. We would like to automate this.
To start we want to scrape the specific data from an email that is being sent to us with customer information and write it a Google Sheet. Then we will write an app script to fill out a template with the prospec data. We will share example emails.
The project is done if you've completed a tool or a script that will scrape the data from various similar emails (always same structure), and the data is copied automatically to a Google sheet and I can find the data in the right column (mapping is correct).
CHAT GPT Suggestion:
Automating the process of creating job offers from customer emails is definitely a great way to save time and increase efficiency for your service company. Here's an outline of the steps involved in implementing this solution:
Set up a Google Sheet to store all the relevant information about the job offers. This sheet should include columns for the customer name, pickup and drop-off locations, items being moved, and any special instructions or requirements.
Use a web scraping tool, such as BeautifulSoup or Scrapy, to scrape the move-specific data from the email that is being sent to your company. This could include extracting the customer's name, pickup and drop-off addresses, and any details about the items being moved.
Write a script to automatically insert the scraped data into the appropriate columns in the Google Sheet. This script could be written in Python, for example, and use the Google Sheets API to interact with the Google Sheet.
Create a template for the job offer that includes all the necessary information, such as the customer's name, pickup and drop-off locations, and items being moved. This template should be designed to be easily filled out with the scraped data from the Google Sheet.
Write an App Script that will automatically fill out the job offer template with the scraped data from the Google Sheet. This script can be run on demand or be set up to run on a schedule.
Once the job offer has been generated, it can be sent to the customer via email or any other preferred means.
By automating this process, your service company can save a significant amount of time and resources that would otherwise be spent manually creating job offers for each prospective customer. This solution can also help to reduce errors and ensure that all necessary information is included in each job offer.
