Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Project Title

Build a Scalable Classified Ads Platform with Auctions, Digital Downloads, and PayPal Payments

Project Summary

I am building a general classified advertising website where visitors can browse categories and sub categories, search locally or globally, then post ads, bid in auctions, or buy digital items. I need a complete working platform with a user dashboard, a full admin panel, PayPal payments, a review system linked to real transactions, e book downloads after payment, and an auction system with timed bidding and buy now.

This is intended to grow big, so the system must be designed cleanly and in a way that can scale in future phases.

What Visitors Should Be Able To Do

Browse all ads by category and sub category.

See category and sub category names with the total number of ads next to each one. Example: Books and Magazine 200, E book 20.

Navigate easily with clear menus and routing that updates dynamically as categories change.

Search ads using normal search and advanced search.

Search by category, sub category, and location, or choose an All option to search across everything.

Filter search results and sort results.

All content listings should display in alphabetical order wherever it makes sense, such as categories, sub categories, and directory style lists.

What Registered Users Should Be Able To Do
User Account and Dashboard

Register and log in securely.

Access a clean dashboard where they can post new advertisements.

The dashboard should be built so more sections can be added later, but posting ads must work fully now.

Posting Ads

When a user posts an ad, they must be able to:

Choose category and sub category.

Add title, description, price, and location.

Upload up to 8 photos per ad.

Photos must follow a fixed file size limit and should be validated on upload.

Photos must show as a gallery with zoom to view larger.

Add a YouTube video link that shows on the ad page.

Contact and Communication

Each ad page must include a seller contact form so visitors can send a message to the seller.

From inside their dashboard, logged in users should have a live chat option with the seller.

The system should show online status when a seller is logged in, for example Seller Johnathan Online.

Auctions

Some listings will be auctions. For auctions, I need:

Timed bidding with an end time.

Real time bid updates and bid increments.

A buy now option so a buyer can instantly purchase without waiting for the auction to end.

Deposit support if required, paid through PayPal.

Digital Goods and E Book Downloads

Some listings will be digital, like e books. For digital items:

Buyer pays through PayPal.

After successful payment, the download must unlock automatically.

Download links must be protected so only the buyer can access them.

Admin must be able to upload and manage digital files.

Ratings and Reviews

I need a rating and review system that builds trust.

Only users who completed a real transaction should be able to leave a review.

Reviews must be tied to the transaction, not just the listing.

Payments Using PayPal

PayPal will act like the local wallet for:

Featured listing payments.

Auction deposits.

E book purchases.

Requirements:

One click PayPal checkout.

Webhook based payment status updates.

Must support sandbox testing and live mode testing.

Admin Panel Requirements

The admin panel must allow full control. Admin should be able to edit, approve, remove, or manage:

All listings.

Categories and sub categories.

Pages and site content.

Reviews and ratings.

Auctions and bidding rules.

Digital downloads and files.

Payment settings including PayPal configuration.

Admin must have role separation from normal users.

Extra Requirements I Need Included

The platform must be capable of accommodating 30 million registered users over time. This means clean database design, good structure, and scalable architecture decisions.

Page border should be blue color.

Auto detect location for shoppers.

Geo targeting must be enabled for search and advanced search.

Responsive design that works well on mobile and modern browsers.

Fast load times.

Search and sort feature to find customers by first name and last name.

Category and sub category listing pages must display ad counts.

Dynamic categories and routing.

Alphabetical ordering for content display.

Acceptance Criteria

Mobile responsive UI and fast loading.

Clear category and sub category navigation with search and filters.

Secure login with roles for admin, seller, buyer.

PayPal sandbox and live mode tests are successful.

At handoff, I receive the complete codebase, database schema, and a short deployment guide.

Tech Flexibility

You can choose the framework or CMS you work fastest in, but it must be well documented and maintainable for another developer later. The listed skills include PHP, MySQL, Laravel, React, and payment processing, but you can propose alternatives if they meet the requirements.

What To Include In Your Proposal

What tech stack you recommend and why.

How you will design the system for scalability.

Your plan for PayPal checkout plus webhooks.

Your plan for auctions and real time bidding updates.

Estimated delivery timeline broken into phases.
