Rewrite old WordPress theme to work with WP6.2 and PHP8.1 minimum

My client has a website with a custom WordPress theme that is no longer working. It's hosted on a VPS. I have attempted to copy and run it elsewhere, but it still does not work.
I need a WordPress developer experienced in theme design and upgrades to fix the issues and make it future-proof.
This should be a relatively simple task for someone with experience.
