Real Estate Platform Software Engineer
Budget: $250 – $750 CAD
Looking to make an innovative new platform designed to aggregate and visualize the historical journey of homes across Canada. We will offer users the ability to explore the visual history of properties with data and imagery collected from multiple sources, such as Realtor, Google Maps, Zolo, and more. Think of it as a blend between a real estate search tool and a visual time machine.
Role Overview:
As the Lead Software Engineer, you will take ownership of developing the platform from the ground up. This role requires expertise in backend, frontend, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and real-time data aggregation. You will work closely with product designers and data partners to integrate property records, images, and visual timelines into an intuitive user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Development & Architecture: Design, develop, and implement the core platform using scalable technologies.
Data Aggregation & Integration: Build APIs and data pipelines to pull information from multiple sources (e.g., Realtor, Zolo, Google Maps).
Interactive Mapping: Implement map-based visualizations (similar to MLS systems) with the ability to view historical snapshots of properties.
Backend Development: Develop a robust backend using modern frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Django, or Spring Boot) to manage property data and user requests.
Frontend Development: Build a sleek, responsive interface (e.g., React.js or Angular) that allows users to search and explore homes.
Mobile App Development: Create a mobile app using Flutter or React Native to ensure a seamless experience across all devices.
Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and manage the platform on cloud services such as AWS or Google Cloud, ensuring scalability and performance.
Data Privacy & Compliance: Ensure compliance with Canadian privacy laws (e.g., PIPEDA) when handling property data.
Team Leadership: Hire and mentor junior developers, and coordinate with external data providers and designers.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in full-stack development, with a focus on scalable platforms.
Expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and mobile development with Flutter or React Native.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with APIs and data pipelines to integrate external data sources (Google Maps, Realtor, etc.).
Familiarity with GIS and mapping technologies (e.g., Leaflet, OpenStreetMap, Mapbox).
Knowledge of machine learning techniques for data insights and home valuation is a plus.
Experience in real estate tech or prop-tech platforms is highly desirable.
Familiarity with Canadian data privacy regulations (e.g., PIPEDA) and GDPR.
What We Offer:
Competitive salary and equity options.
Remote-first work environment with flexible hours.
The opportunity to build a cutting-edge platform that will redefine how Canadians interact with real estate data.
Collaboration with industry experts and early-stage product design freedom.
