Private Cloud Network Engineer -- 2

Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our IT team. Our ideal candidate will be able to work independently as part of a small team and will possess a good understanding of networking principles together with hands-on experience managing and maintaining network infrastructure within private cloud environments. This role requires proficiency in server provisioning, partitioning, website and database migration, groupware management, fire walls and security protocols, DNS management, proxy server and mail server maintenance, and the use of automated scripts for monitoring, backup and failover.
Responsibilities:
• Server Management:
o Provision and manage virtual servers within a secure private cloud environment.
o Perform server partitioning and resource allocation to optimize performance.
o Implement and maintain server security measures, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Network Infrastructure:
o Manage and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
o Configure and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
o Monitor network performance and optimize for efficiency and security.
• Website and Database Migration:
o Plan and execute website and database migrations to new servers or platforms.
o Ensure data integrity and minimal downtime during migration processes.
• Groupware Management:
o Manage and maintain groupware solutions (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Google Workspace).
o Configure user accounts, mailboxes, and collaboration tools.
o Troubleshoot groupware related issues and ensure smooth operation.
• DNS Management:
o Manage DNS records and zones.
o Ensure proper domain name resolution and website accessibility.
• Proxy Server Maintenance:
o Configure and maintain proxy servers for enhanced security and content filtering.
o Troubleshoot proxy server issues and optimize performance.
• Automation:
o Develop and maintain automated scripts for server backups, failover processes, and other routine tasks.
o Utilize automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role, with a focus on hosted server environments.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Hands-on experience with server virtualization technologies and network management tools.
• Proficiency in website and database migration procedures.
• Experience with groupware solutions (NextCloud) and email systems.
• Knowledge of DNS management and configuration.
• Familiarity with proxy server technologies and security practices.
• Ability to write and maintain automated scripts for cron jobs etc.,
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Optional: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field.
