Key goals
• Carry out a clean, secure upgrade from 1.7.8.6 to 9 without disrupting day-to-day operations.
• Preserve the existing storefront look-and-feel, catalogue, customer data, orders and any modules that must stay active.
• Identify and resolve any compatibility issues that arise from third-party modules or custom tweaks.
• Validate that core functionality—checkout, payments, shipping, back-office reporting—works exactly as before (or better).
• Deploy the upgraded store to production only after thorough staging-site testing.
