Payment Solution for Event Ticketing System Like Eventbrite
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We currently use Modern Events Calendar as the event post function, Dokan to allow for multiple transaction fees, and Stripe Connect for payment processing.
The objective is to create a custom payment solution for our multivendor event ticketing system:
1) ticket buyers should absorb all fees
2) organizers should receive the exact asking price per ticket sold after payment processor deducts the fees
- The calculations should happen at checkout.
- Stripe charges 2.9% plus $0.30 per ticket sold.
- We charge 3.5% plus $1.29 per ticket sold.
- When the payment hits Stripe, they take their cut first, then they send us our fee. The vendor gets the remaining balance
Please note - Stripe rounds up the percentages. For example:
$0.145 is rounded to $0.15
$0.435 is rounded to $0.44
$0.725 is rounded to $0.73
$1.015 is rounded to $1.02
Buyers should see the ticket price plus fees (Ticket Price + Processing Fee + Ticket Fee) prior to purchase. (Processing Fee refers to Stripe; Ticket Fee refers to our fee)
For example:
A $10 ticket should total $12.38 ($10 + $0.66 + $1.72)
A $15 ticket should total $17.72 ($15 + $0.81 + $1.91)
A $20 ticket should total $23.07 ($20 + $0.97 + $2.10)
We've been in communication with Stripe because our fees have been incorrect. They are calculating their Stripe fees correctly, but are not calculating our fees correctly. For example:
For a $15 ticket totaling $17.72 - they're keeping $0.81 (correct fee) and sending us $1.92 instead of $1.91; leaving the vendor with $14.99 instead of $15.
For a $20 ticket totaling $23.08 - they're keeping $0.97 (correct) and sending us $2.13 instead of $2.10; leaving the vendor with $19.98 instead of $20
Stripe ultimately said that we are telling them to post $1.92 and $2.13 and for us to look into our code more closely.
We need to figure out what's wrong with the current code or create a new code that works correctly.
