Parse External XML date (with cron job per hour) into MySQL database and show on frontend

My customer is active in automotive sector and is now updating their
website manually (the stock of cars). They have an arrangement
with a company where they insert only 1 time a vehicle.
The internal algorithm makes their ad visible on serveral belgian/european
car market platforms. We would like to get rid of always updating the content (html5)
manually and instead showing the content from an external xml. We're opting to build a car dealer listing but this time this listing database needs to be updates each time as well.
Best option would be like importing the xml into mysql database and create
a cron job every hour to popupulate/update rows (unless you think there is a more optimal way).
