PHP Calendar strftime Replacement

I have a small, self-contained PHP snippet that renders a monthly calendar. It still relies on strftime(), so it breaks the moment the server runs PHP 8.1 or newer. The task is simple: swap out every strftime() call for a modern, supported alternative while keeping the visual output identical.

In order to make it work you should use only PHP and no external dependencies.
