PAYPAL CHECKOUT NOT RETURNING TO MERCHANT

hi guys i have a niggling glitch when i use paypal hosted and the customer pays with PAYPAL it doesnt return to the merchant automatically and they dont receive order email
if the customers presses the button RETURN TO MERCHANT it logs then user out and no order comes thru on email
