Project: WooCommerce Customer Order Tracking System
Objective: Implement a tracking system within a WooCommerce environment that enables customers to trace the status of their orders.
Requirements:
1. WooCommerce Integration:
Leverage WooCommerce's REST API to fetch order details and statuses.
Make sure to comply with WooCommerce's standards and best practices throughout the development.
2. Tracking Page Creation:
Develop a custom WooCommerce page where customers can enter their order number and email address.
Redirect to a status page displaying a progress bar reflecting the shipping status.
3. Shipping Logic with PostNL:
Simulate tracking for PostNL (a Dutch shipping company that doesn't provide track & trace).
Initial status: If order status is "completed," show "Order Underway" and calculate an expected delivery time of 3 days from the tracking date.
Subsequent tracking: If tracked on a different day, adjust the expected delivery time to 8 business days from when the order was marked completed.
4. Customer Inquiry Handling:
Prior to 8 business days from order completion, disable the inquiry option, visually indicating that inquiries are not yet possible.
After 8 business days, always show the progress bar as "Delivered" and enable a text box for inquiries.
5. Inquiry Form Development:
Create a contact form within WooCommerce that becomes available for inquiries after 8 business days.
If emailing, automatically populate the email with the order number and email address.
6. Front-End Considerations:
Ensure compatibility with the existing theme and provide a responsive design for mobile users.
Implement clear and user-friendly error handling and validation messages.
7. Security and Performance:
Implement proper validation and sanitation measures to ensure security.
Optimize the tracking system for speed and responsiveness.
