Optimize our php fpm settings to avoid hanging processes
Budget: ₹3,000 – ₹8,000 INR
We are looking for help in optimizing the php set up in our server. We are hosted on digitalocean.com on a 32 GB RAM set up. The operating system is Ubuntu 18.04 and we run apache + php-fpm (7.4) + mysql + solr. We receive traffic of about 30000+ users a day to our website (excluding bots).
We shifted to this server back in April. Since then we have had two modifications of the PHP set up done by a server admin expert (once in April and once in July) to address similar problems. Things were running well but since the last 7 days at a particular time, around 1PM (India time - around 0730 GMT) , we find that PHP becomes completely unresponsive resulting in website downtime. After I restart php-fpm AND Apache, the site again runs well for the next 24 hours. However, during the downtime too, the server load average never spikes.
I am looking for someone to take a look at the settings, and suggest or implement modifications to ensure these downtimes do not occur. Could you please let us know how much you would expect in terms of remuneration to do this one time job? You will probably need to monitor the server, starting around 0700 GMT and figure out how we can modify our settings. I had initially set up mod_php but at the insistence of the freelance server admin, we shifted to php-fpm.
