Opencart-Journal 3 Specific feature

Hi, I have Journal3 theme installed on opencart CMS. I have a very specific requirement that my developer is not able to fulfill. In Journal3, there are various modules that you can include on various pages. In the modules>product, you may choose custom products. However these products are static on any page wherever you put the module. I want these products to be governed by a model/controller where i can set rules for which products to include. It will require detailed knowledge of how journal3 product module works. So as an output, I only need a php file in overall system where I can include products as per set rules that will be displayed in wherever i put the products module.
