Nutrition-Focused Health App Backend Development -- 2
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I'm looking for an experienced backend developer to help build a REST API and algorithms for a health-improving nutrition app I'm developing for iPhone and Android. This app will collect data on users' nutritional intake, physical activity, and health metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a RESTful API using Laravel that runs on AWS cloud with S3 storage
- Create algorithms to process and analyze user data
- Implement features like user authentication, push notifications, meal plan building, a 90-day meal plan, and a shopping list
Ideal Skills:
- Proficiency in Laravel and RESTful API development
- Experience with AWS cloud services and S3 storage
- Strong understanding of data analytics and algorithm development
User Interaction:
- The application will allow users to manually input their data. Therefore, the backend needs to be robust enough to handle large amounts of data input from various users.

Minimum requirements:
at least 2 years of PHP Laravel experience
at least 2 years of RESTful APIs experience
Google/Facebook/Apple oauth experience.
Strong coding skills
Strong written and reading skills -> English
Nice to have:
Bitbucket and Jira experience.
Integrating Subscription ( Revenue CAT / Chargebee / Apple / Android application payments skills.
Front-end -> Flutter
Polish or Ukrainian language

App has been started already in laravel and abandoned.
User authentication API has been started and few small features.

Social logins (Google, Facebook, Apple)
Email and password
Capture the data from the registration using API and store in database: - Registration survey
Choosing a plan/subscrption using revenuecat
Create meal plan algorithm:
Dynamic options depending on answers (will be shown in figma prototypes) from user’s input , 90 days daily food plan will be returned as a result.
User profile pages:
Personal information (age, weight, height, diet type, diet goal, allergies, disliked foods)
Macronutrient settings (macros)
Weekends from the plan
Water habits
Calorie settings
Meal planning:
Personalized nutrition recommendations based on user profile and goals
List custom meal plan
Save your favorite recipes and meals (Next release)
Meal planning calendar
Meal substitution
Meal recording
Shopping list
Automatically generated shopping lists from selected recipes
Mark items as purchased
Share shopping list with family and friends
Progress tracking
Record meal, mood, weight, water
Automatically recorded steps
Visual progress representations (graphs, charts)
