Multilingual PDF/Document Translation Service
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
## **Project Summary: Web-Based PDF/Document Translation Service**
**Objective:**
Develop a secure, scalable web application that allows users to upload PDF or text documents, automatically translates the content using open-source AI language models (not Google Translate or paid APIs), and provides the translated document for download. The service will be offered via paid subscriptions.
**Key Requirements:**
- **User Interface:**
- Clean, modern web interface for registration, login, document upload, translation status, and download.
- User dashboard with subscription management.
- **Backend Functionality:**
- Handle user authentication and subscription management (integrate with Stripe or similar for recurring payments).
- Extract text from uploaded PDFs/documents, preserving formatting and layout.
- Translate extracted text using locally hosted open-source AI models (e.g., Qwen3, GemmaX2, or similar via LM Studio or LibreTranslate).
- Re-insert translated text into the original document, maintaining layout as much as possible.
- Allow users to download the translated document.
- **Tech Stack Preferences:**
- Frontend: React, Vue, or similar.
- Backend: Python (FastAPI/Flask) or Node.js.
- PDF processing: PyMuPDF, pdfplumber, or similar.
- Translation: Integration with LM Studio (running open-source models) or self-hosted LibreTranslate.
- Payments: Stripe integration for subscriptions.
- Database: PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Hosting: Cloud/VPS (DigitalOcean, AWS, etc.).
- **Other Requirements:**
- Secure file handling and user data protection.
- Scalable architecture for future growth.
- Well-documented codebase for future maintenance.
**Deliverables:**
- Fully functional web application (frontend and backend).
- Integration with open-source translation models (no reliance on paid APIs).
- Stripe (or similar) payment and subscription management.
- Deployment and basic documentation.
**Please include in your proposal:**
- Relevant experience with similar projects.
- Suggested tech stack and workflow.
- Estimated timeline and cost.
