Migrate phpBB forum to a new forum system

I have an ancient phpBB installation with message history going back over 10 years, at https://jv16powertools.com/forum/ - The software is phpBB version 3.3.x. The database contains 31038 messages.
I want you to recommend a more modern self-hosted forum software, to which you can migrate the existing forum without losing any of the old messages. Ideally, without using the old user accounts, either.
Then, you will be given a sub domain access to the server and you will migrate the existing forum to the new system.
In your bid, please tell me what forum software you would recommend. I would prefer a free and open source, self hosted forum software, such as Flarum.
