Linux task
Budget: $100 – $250 USD
I would like to know if you can help me with a task in Linux. There is a software that provides support for mouse devices in Linux virtual consoles called gpm (General Purpose Mouse). Here is a link on how to install gpm https://howtoinstall.co/en/gpm. There is a -r command that lets you change the mouse responsiveness in the virtual console. There is also -R command called repeater that lets you use the mouse in X Window Server not only in virtual console (ctrl alt f2). The problem is the -r command to change the mouse responsiveness does not work in X. I need you to change the gpm source code so that it may work in X.
Searching Online i have found a person on a forum who said he "had a smart friend to change the gpm source code so that it
would actually multiply mouse movement data before sending it to /dev/gpmdata. He also said that whoever wrote gpm forgot to put that code in so that the-r command could work in X.
Here is a link that describes gpm and its commands https://linux.die.net/man/8/gpm. Please let me know if you are willing and able to do this. Thank you.
(I have the source code folder for gpm)
