Laravel Website Upgrade Project

Job ID: 40529213

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I have an existing Laravel application that is currently running on Laravel 5.7, PHP 7.0, and MariaDB. The application has been stable in production for several years, but it is now significantly behind current Laravel and PHP versions and requires a structured upgrade and modernization effort.

The primary objective is to bring the application up to date while preserving all existing functionality and maintaining the current user experience.

The project should start with a brief review of the existing codebase to identify any major compatibility issues, outdated dependencies, technical debt, or potential upgrade blockers. Based on those findings, I would like a recommended upgrade path before implementation begins.

The upgrade work is expected to include:

* Upgrading Laravel from 5.7 to the latest appropriate stable version.
* Upgrading PHP from 7.0 to a current supported version.
* Updating or replacing outdated Composer packages and dependencies.
* Fixing any bugs encountered during the upgrade process.
* Refactoring code where necessary to align with current Laravel best practices.
* Improving application performance and maintainability where appropriate.
* Ensuring compatibility with MariaDB.

Frontend work is not expected. The application's appearance and user experience should remain unchanged. Frontend modifications should only be made when necessary to maintain compatibility with updated packages or framework requirements.

The completed work should include:

* The completed project delivered in a ZIP file ready to be uploaded to the server.
* Clear documentation of significant changes.
* Deployment instructions for staging and production environments.
* Testing to verify that existing functionality continues to work correctly after the upgrade.

Experience upgrading legacy Laravel applications across multiple major versions is strongly preferred.
