HTTPS Activation for Custom-Coded Website

I need assistance in making my current custom-coded website run on https. It's mainly written in PHP. My main requirement is to activate the SSL certificate. Ideally your skills will include experience in PHP and proficiency in acquiring SSL certificate for websites.
