Google Maps API (2 location markers on map with distance)

Hi. I specialize in UI/UX and need a very basic Google Maps script that allows me to display a map with 2 markers where one is the starting location and one is the destination. I would also like it to show the distance in miles. Directions are not needed.
I do core php projects, plus javascript and ajax. So anything simple where I could add it into my project then copy and paste (ie. assign) my php variables to your values - would be great.
