Full-Stack Developer Needed: Class-Driven CYOA Platform with RPG Mechanics, Skill Trees + Relationship Spin-Offs & PDF Export (Urgent)

Job ID: 39091618

Budget: £10,000 – £20,000 GBP

We are seeking an experienced full-stack developer to build a comprehensive, self-contained platform for creating and playing class-driven "Choose Your Own Adventure" (CYOA) stories with RPG Mechanics, including but not limited to: Combat Mechanics, Dialogue Mechanics, Objectives/Quests, Inventory, Skill Trees, Classes, Spin-off books (Character relationships and skill tree development), and professional PDF exports. The platform will emphasise structured storytelling, RPG mechanics, and accessibility for newcomers, while providing robust tools for content creation and polished PDF generation.

This project is time-sensitive, and we aim to deliver an MVP within 4–6 weeks, with final polish and testing completed within 8–12 weeks. A bonus will be offered for early completion (including completed testing).

Key Features:
1. Class-Based Storytelling
Users can play as customizable classes (e.g., Warrior, Mage, Rogue) with unique stats, abilities, and skill trees.

Example:
-A Warrior might have high Strength, unlocking combat-focused choices.

-A Mage might have high Magic, accessing spell-driven story paths.

2. Skill Tree + Relationships Spin-Off Books
Structured Mini-Adventures: Create short, standalone stories focused on advancing specific skills (e.g., Necromancy Training: Book 1-3).

Example Workflow:
-A Mage character unlocks Necromancy Book 1 after reaching "Magic 5" in the main story.

-Completing Book 1 grants "Necromancy Level 2," unlocking Book 2.

Newcomer-Friendly: Each spin-off includes a brief recap or default skill level for players new to the series.

Relationships Books: Create short, standalone stories focused on any characters from any story in any world growing a relationship.

Quests/Objectives: Create short, standalone quests, containing multiple objectives - forcing the user to explore.

Extended Character Creation: Create short, standalone book for users to create a character in a more depth.

3. Cross-Story Porting for Newcomers
Default Universe States: New players can start spin-offs or later books without prior progress by using pre-set variables (e.g., "Assume the protagonist has Magic 3") in a summarized character creator.

Integrated Backstories: Optional in-text summaries (e.g., "Previously, your character allied with the rebels...") to contextualize choices.

4. Professional PDF Export
Dynamic Book Generation: Export playthroughs as print-ready PDFs with:

Customizable Layouts: Choose fonts, page borders, and chapter styles (e.g., "Medieval" or "Sci-Fi" themes) and page sizes.

Player Stats & Choices: Appendices display skill progression, inventory, and key decisions.

Illustration Slots: Authors pre-define image placeholders (e.g., "Chapter 1: Insert castle artwork here").

Tools: Python’s WeasyPrint or ReportLab for rendering, with CSS/HTML templates for styling.

5. Content Creation Tools
Drag-and-Drop Flowchart Editor: Design branching narratives with nodes for story segments, choices, and conditional logic (e.g., "If Strength ≥ 7").

Class & Skill Tree Builder: Define custom classes with starting stats, abilities, and skill trees.

Spin-Off Workshop: Link spin-offs to main stories or other spin-offs (e.g., "Requires completing Mage Main Story to access Necromancy Trilogy").

Technical Requirements:
1. Frontend:
React.js/Vue.js: Immersive UI for class creation, story navigation, and flowchart editing.

Interactive Flowchart: Visualize story nodes, choices, and conditional logic.

2. Backend:
Python/Django/FastAPI: JSON logic, state tracking, and PDF rendering.

Database: PostgreSQL for saving progress, class data, and universe states.

3. PDF Generation:
Automated Styling: Apply themes to PDFs (e.g., "Gothic" uses dark borders and parchment backgrounds).

Dynamic Content: Replace illustration placeholders with user-uploaded images.

4. Testing & Validation:
Debugging Tools: Simulate playthroughs to test stat checks, skill unlocks, and story continuity.

Schema Compliance: Ensure user-created JSON adheres to platform standards.

Deliverables:
Web Platform:

Class/skill tree editors, spin-off dependency logic, and PDF exporter.

“Newcomer Mode” for spin-offs with default stats/recaps.

Sample Content:

A main story with 2 classes (Warrior/Mage) and a 3-part skill spin-off series.

Documentation:

A detailed user guide for every element of the variables, and PDF templates.

-A phased delivery plan with milestones (e.g., “Core JSON engine by Week 2”).
-Confirmation of availability (full-time or 30+ hrs/week).
-Budget breakdown (e.g., frontend vs. PDF engine vs. testing).
-The keywords "ADVENTURE ARCHITECT" to prove AI hasn't been used to rush a "personalized" response.
