About the Project
We're launching a subscription-based SaaS platform that allows restaurants, takeaways, cafes, and other food businesses to easily create, manage, and share their menus both online and offline.
The MVP (Phase 1) will enable users to:
Upload and categorize menu items (e.g., Starters, Mains, Cold Meze, Hot Meze, Desserts, Drinks, etc.)
Choose from 10 customizable menu templates
Generate QR codes for digital menus (for table display or takeaway packaging)
Export print-ready PDF versions of menus
Embed menus on their websites or link from social media
Display customer reviews/testimonials
Link to social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
Phase 2 will include:
Customer ordering system (add-to-basket, checkout, and payment)
Real-time order notifications for restaurants
Order history and analytics dashboard
Tech Stack (Preferred)
Frontend: React.js (with Redux or Context API)
Backend: Node.js (Express preferred)
Database: PostgreSQL or MongoDB
PDF Exporting: jsPDF or similar
QR Code Generation: qrcode.js or external API
Payment Integration (Phase 2): Stripe, Square, etc.
Hosting: AWS / Vercel / DigitalOcean
Key Responsibilities
Develop the full MVP from scratch
Implement category-based menu creation and management
Build a template engine to auto-generate stylish menus (online and printable)
Integrate social media link fields and review/testimonial section
Create QR code functionality for digital menus
Build admin-facing dashboard with authentication
Implement subscription and billing (Stripe or similar)
Prepare the foundation for Phase 2 ordering and checkout functionality
Requirements
3+ years experience in full-stack development
Proficient in React and Node.js
Experience with dynamic PDF and QR code generation
Familiarity with social media embeds and user-generated content features (e.g., reviews)
Ability to design clean, intuitive UIs or work closely with a designer
Good communication and documentation practices
Bonus Points
Prior work in food tech, restaurant apps, or CMS-like platforms
Experience with analytics dashboards or POS integration
Knowledge of SEO best practices for online menus
