Frontend API Post Request

Looking to create a frontend API Post Request.
The user would select from dropdown or enter text within a text box which will then give a list of results.
If using dropdown it will prefill part of the API request.
API is to output available telephone numbers for purchase
API looks like
https://sub.domain.com/telecoms/checknumberapi.php?username=XXX&password=XXX&country=44&areaCode=DROPDOWNFILL&subCode=*&show=100
Results look like (first 4 as an example)
44-XXX-ABC_44-XXX-XYZ_44-XXX-123_44-XXX-456
Would prefer to be split to make it easier to ready such as
XXX ABC
XXX XYZ
XXX 123
XXX 456
