Development of a Web Application for Rowing Management
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
Project Overview:
Yakka Trakka is a tool for high school rowing team management. I want a site designed for the head coach, who will use the site to organise athletes and other coaches into by different boats, manage equipment, and track student performance metrics. The platform will be linked to a Google Sheets document where student data is stored. This data includes position (cox or rower), performance metrics, and other details. Each boat will be differently sized which will represent the number of rowers allocated to the boat. While rowers will only be assigned to one boat at a time, a cox or coach may be allocated to more than one if the head coach chooses. The web application may be built using Wordpress or Google Sites.
Key Functionalities:
1. Google Sheets Integration: The website should have a secure integration with Google Sheets using the Google Sheets API. This allows the application to fetch, write, and manipulate data stored in Google Sheets. The data includes student details, performance metrics, and equipment information.
2. Student Sorting: The platform should allow the coach to sort students by their positions (cox or rower). This is an essential feature for team organisation. The system should support assigning rowers to only one boat while coxes and coaches can be assigned to multiple boats if needed.
3. Boat Assignment: The platform should provide a user-friendly interface for assigning students and coaches to different boats. Boats have varying capacities, so the system should account for the number of rowers, one cox, and one coach per boat. This feature should use dropdown menus or a similar easy-to-use interface.
4. Equipment Management: The platform should display a summary of equipment status. This will include the condition of the boats, their assignment (which boat is assigned to which trailer), and when they are due for maintenance.
5. Performance Metrics: The platform should display a summary of student performance metrics. These metrics will be pulled from the Google Sheets and may include metrics tracked from Garmin watches. The display of these metrics should be intuitive and easy to understand, possibly using charts or graphs.
Design and User Interface:
The design of the platform should be modern and user-friendly, allowing the coach to quickly and easily manage the team and equipment. The primary user is the head coach, so the design should cater to his needs, with a focus on usability.
Technical Requirements:
- Familiarity with Google Sheets API for data integration.
- Expertise in creating responsive and user-friendly web designs.
- Experience with Wordpress or Google Sites for website development.
