I need to create to create a car listing website for used cars that allows dealers to post a cars and manage their inventory.
It needs to be clean, modern, latest HTML standard, mobile-responsive and SEO-friendly from start.

My preference is not to use WP and go for a custom designed site. But I will go with your advice.
