Connect an API feed to a WordPress site

Hi,
I have a WordPress site and want to connect it to a movie database API in the following way:
1. On the Wordpress site, I am thinking of connecting WordPress to API using ACF/Meta Box.
2. As a result, extra custom fields will be created on a post that can be be automatically searched and populated using movie title.
3. Poster for the movie, along with some other data can be pulled as well.
4. Alternatively, one can think of creating a plugin instead of ACF/Meta Box.
