Build a Manufacturer/Model Checker Function with Wordpress Woocommerce

Create a function that will check whether a Custom Taxonomy’s parent or parent and child are assigned to a product and display an on-page text box based on the user's selection.
We currently have a Custom Taxonomy (category) with parents and children (hierarchical). Once populated there will be circ. 80 manufacturers (parents), with circ. 80 models (childen) per parent. Each parent and child will be unique and available to multiple products. We would like to use standard hooks and options if possible to create a dropdown look-up. One additional requirement is to have an admin page to assign categories to products. As it is difficult to add on the edit product page due to the number of categories that will be available to products.
