Barcode Scanner App & Website Creation
Budget: $10,000 – $20,000 USD
We are looking to develop a barcode scanner app and an integrated website, inspired by the YUKA App and yuka.io. The primary function of the barcode scanner will be product lookup and color/score ratings based on ingredients and manufacturer's location.
Key Features of the App:
- Premium Features: There will be a donation-based model to unlock premium features where users will also be prompted to sign in for an account. This includes access to scan history, favorites, recommendations, product search, etc.
- User Accounts: Users should be able to create their own accounts on App and manage the same integrated data on the website with same login credentials.
- Product Search: Premium users should be able to search for products by name or category on both App and website.
- Color Rating System: Similar to YUKA, the app will have a color rating system for both 'Food' and 'Cosmetic' scanned products based on their ingredients, nutrients, additives and so on.
- "Buy Local" Rating Meter: This feature will rate the scanned product based on its distance from the user's zip code to producer/manufacturer location
- Manufacturer Rating Meter: Based on the color/score ratings of all product scans from same manufacturer, the company will get a rating color and score
Key Features of the Website:
- Main purpose is for Healthy Lifestyle Education and User Account log in and management.
- Admin should be able to monitor and edit product database and also able to view app reports and analytics on user count, donations and usage.
*** VERY IMPORTANT: Both the App and website platforms need to be robust, easy to navigate, with quick response and flawlessly communicating to each other, and scalable for future additions as multi language, expending to different markets/countries and so on. And yes there will be future add-ons to this so, keep in mind, if you are awarded this project there is more work down the road if we are pleased with the end result.
The product database will be provided by us from GS1 Database with either file transfer or API integration depending of what is the faster option at scanning, preferably building our own backend database for lighting fast response at scanning.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in mobile app development (Android & iOS) and web integration.
- Strong experience in creating user-centric, interactive features.
- Familiarity with barcode scanning technology is a plus.
- Previous work on e-commerce or similar apps will be an advantage.
- Understanding of implementing donation-based premium features.
