Backend Developer / PHP / AWS-RDS

FirstClassFlyer.com is a subscription-based website built using WordPress with both third party and custom-built plugins. Functionality includes search, content management, database content management, custom PDF generation, integration with Recurly and Stripe for plans, subscriptions and payments as well as an API for vending key content to related web applications.
Responsibilities
§ Troubleshooting and debugging legacy custom plug-ins and other problems as they arise
§ Improve DevOps processes
§ Implementing new features and functionality
§ Improving Google Page Speed Index
§ Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
§ Optimizing for top platforms, browsers, and devices
§ Creating and managing all test and production environments; managing all disaster recovery and backup procedures for dev environments and content areas
§ Include frontend functionality to checkout pages, like pixels, third party scripts, checkout apps, etc.
§ Security and data protection
Required Skills and Qualifications
§ Deep experience with PHP 7+, PHP custom plug-ins, and MySQL
§ Deep experience with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
§ Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
§ WordPress custom theme/plugin development from scratch
§ Experience using Git-based version control and CI deployment
§ Experience with Amazon Web Services (we use Cloudways to manage our AWS servers, and also have external AWS RDS databases)
§ Experience at managing WordPress databases and custom tables
§ Experience with an Agile/Scrum development process
§ Ability to create and work with various forms of automated testing
We are considering both full-time and part-time.
