Shop Drawing Specialist - Request for Experienced Furniture Shop Drawing Specialist
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to assist us in creating detailed shop drawings for custom furniture as part of our ongoing project.
The scope of work will include preparing precise technical drawings for a variety of furniture pieces, such as sofas, cabinets, dining tables, reception desks, and chairs. These drawings will be used directly for production, so it is essential that they are accurate, well-structured, and easy for our workshop team to follow.
What We Expect from You
• Attention to Detail: You must be capable of carefully interpreting our written requirements, sketches, or design references, and converting them into accurate shop drawings.
• Technical Understanding: A solid knowledge of furniture construction methods, joinery details, material specifications, and production standards.
• Previous Experience: Please share examples of past furniture shop drawings you have created. Drawings should demonstrate clear dimensions, exploded views, material details, and joinery/assembly notes.
Required Software Skills:
The right candidate should have advanced proficiency in the following:
• AutoCAD (2D & 3D) – for precise shop drawings and dimensioning.
• SketchUp / 3D modeling software – to create clear visualizations and assist in communicating design intent.
• SolidWorks or similar CAD tools (preferred but not mandatory) – for complex furniture components or detailed engineering.
• Rendering software such as V-Ray, KeyShot, or similar (a plus) – to present realistic visualizations when required.
• Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop (basic knowledge) – for annotating, marking up, or preparing presentation-ready drawings.
Key Competencies
• Ability to read and interpret design briefs and turn them into shop-ready technical drawings.
• Knowledge of standard furniture dimensions and ergonomics.
• Capability to annotate drawings with material details, joinery types, finishes, and hardware specifications.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with designers, project managers, and workshop teams.
