Resize Food Images without loosing quality and shape

Need to resize bigger size Food images into 800 x 800 specificiation, without loosing the quality and also the shape of the image. the original images may be in rectangular shape, but the end image will be square shape, but the original images shouldnt be elongated or stretched, you can crop or expand the images, but the the contents should not be altered.
