Design Youtube thumbnail with gradient

I have some trouble in PS, need your help: Place a carbon fibre background in the top left corner of a youtube thumbnail which fades into the main picture; on the carobn fibre background, a red logo is to be placed. Main picture should be easily exchangeable to create future thumbnails. File must work with CS5-version of PS.
