Preparation of Documents for Existing Vent Stack
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We are currently in a basic project, to reactivate the LPG system in a city in the interior of São Paulo/Brazil.
There is an existing Vent Stack on site. At this stage of the project, we need to validate, according to Brazilian technical standards and API521, that the system meets, as it was designed and installed in the 80s. To do so, the professional must take into account some data that we will provide below.
Documents that the professional needs to generate:
- Atmospheric Dispersion Study;
- Calculation Memory - Vent Stack System
- Process Data Sheet for Vent Stack System Equipment
Existing process data (see attachment also):
There would be 2 cases of typical relief for system sizing, which would be:
1 - Opening of the PSV for solar irradiation heating of the storage spheres:
Maximum relief flow of 13,376 kg/h of LPG gas @ 54.45°C
Molecular weight = 49.45 kg/kgmol
Cp/Cv = 1.348
Z (compressibility factor) = 0.7273
2 - Drainage relief for lines/equipment containing liquid LPG:
Maximum relief flow of 22.76 kg/h of LPG gas @ -17.63°C
Molecular weight = 49.45 kg/kgmol
Cp/Cv = 1.151
Z (compressibility factor) = 0.9692
The discharges are very brief, lasting in the order of seconds or at most minutes, and in both cases not constant over time. The values that are there are the expected peak, obtained at an instant close to the moment the release begins, but which tends to fall over time.
For LPG, consider the following typical mass composition:
Ethane 0.30%
Propene 30.39%
Propane 14.30%
n-Butane 23.27%
1-Butene 31.67%
n-Pentane 0.07%
The pressure that reaches the relief system can be considered to be around 0.5 kgf/cm²g, but it is possible to increase or decrease this slightly if necessary for the equipment specification.
The system will be installed in a terminal in the state of São Paulo, in an area close to the highway, considering the presence of human occupation in the surrounding area. We will follow all legal and regulatory guidelines necessary for this condition.
Regarding noise, 85 dB(A) must be considered at 30m from the vent stack as it is a region relatively close to the highway and occupied areas outside the terminal.
These documents must be prepared by a professional Process Engineer with previous experience in the same sector.
All final documentation must be generated in the Brazilian Portuguese version.
