Focus on self-knowledge, personal insight and increase awareness of self in relation to others. How we have come to be the way we are and how it contributes to us being a developing counsellor through the lens of PCT.
Explore personal prejudices and how it might impact communication with others. Also looking at communication with others. Reference group theory, place in a group you hold. Explore the impact of your learning on your personal and professional relationships, skills development, attitudes, values and knowledge in or order to show awareness of where your learning is taking you in terms of plans for the future.
Use reflective journal to look back over key moments in your personal learning – reflective process and insight from experience is key. Pages 10-11 of the PDP workbook focusses on plans for the future. Key learning experiences focus on them reflect on them- eg place in the family- who you are how you’ve come to being you. Look at workshops. Present experiences on the course.
Reflection – thinking about what insight does your experience in relationships/interactions give you in terms of self awareness? With this in mind reflect on how you have experiences the large and small groups/ wokshops have they been positive or negative? Negative and positive experiences growing up in family/ school/social groups/ might there be introjects/conditions of worht/ an external or internal locuss of evaluation/ negative or positive self concept or development of configurations of self.
Criticial analysis relating theory to your development bring in pct approach
Could be attachment theory, something that speaks to you personally. Look at some theory and think about what it means to you and how it relates to you how useful it is
Be creative it could be a poem, metaphor, images/ art, films, books, stories,
Reflect feelings from the start of the course where was I at the beginning, what motivated me to join, how I felt on my first day, key light bulb moments of personal learning and where am I now?
Critically explore your experience on the course through the lens of PCT
19 propositions, stages of process, maslows hierarchy of needs?
Identify and reflect on issues and concerns or learning experiences faced and how they either helped or hindered development. What have you noticed has made the difference to you or your development, what do you need from others whilst on your own journey? Personal qualities, conditions, context, have there been times you hit a wall
What have you learned about yourself from being in a group, draw on group work, work theory,
Thinks about all thr groups you have belonged to in life and on the course family, school,,college,work, cultural, social, politicial, faith
What influences or has influenced your responses in these griups
Imapct of your learning on your personal relationships, attitutdes, values, skills practise and knowledge
What might you do now that is different to how you are
What do you don’t value from BACP
Evaluation of PD during this period and any new awareness gained
Which bits of personal development learning have stoof out for you
What insight have they provided for you into your self and way of being?
Where is this new insight propeeling you ney? What are you curious to learn about yourself
Plans for future where has this motivation come from what do I want to be doing, how am I going to ger there, short – medium- long term plans
