SQL Database Modernization
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I have a set of legacy, SQL-based database files that have begun to slow down as our data volume has grown. My main objective is to modernize these files so they run efficiently on current-generation systems. I do not need a full-scale redesign or security overhaul right now—pure performance improvement is the priority.
Here is what I need done:
• Examine the existing SQL files, identify bottlenecks, and propose optimizations such as indexing, query refactoring, or engine-specific tuning.
• Migrate or convert the files to a modern relational engine if that will yield measurable speed gains (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or a similar open-source platform are all acceptable).
• Carry out light text editing within relevant data fields—standardizing spelling, fixing obvious typos, and ensuring naming consistency—to prevent data quality issues after the upgrade.
• Provide a concise report that summarizes the changes, the rationale behind each adjustment, and before-vs-after performance metrics.
Acceptance criteria:
1. The optimized database must demonstrate a clear, documented improvement in query response times under the same workload.
2. No data loss or corruption may occur; spot checks and validation scripts should confirm integrity.
3. Edited text fields must remain semantically identical while being cleaner and more uniform.
