Fix Apache Timeout on Linux

My site sits on a Linux VPS running Apache 2.4 and what used to be instant page loads have turned into frequent timeouts. The first byte often takes ages, sometimes ending in a 504, yet once the connection finally starts static files stream normally. Something in the stack is stalling Apache and I need it fixed without disrupting live traffic.

You’ll receive root SSH access and may use whatever diagnostic tools you trust—top, htop, mod_status, strace, iotop, sar, you name it—as long as each action is noted so I can follow the trail later. Feel free to tune prefork/event settings, adjust keep-alive, chase down misbehaving PHP-FPM pools, cron jobs, database locks or anything else you discover.

Deliverables
• Clear diagnosis explaining the root cause of the timeouts.
• All configuration or code changes applied (httpd.conf, vhosts, .htaccess, sysctl, etc.) with before/after snippets.
