Provide solution (and install/demonstrate it) on best tool to use to add text/edit to PDFs on Macbook

I have MacBook Pro. I receive pdf documents (eg pdf worksheets) that I want to fill out easily and edit. I have used the tools/annotate/text function within Preview but it just adds text boxes and is inefficient. I want to be able to directly fill/edit the pdf without adding text boxes ie I just want to be able to type directly into the pdf. I also want to be able to remove branding and add my own branding to pdfs that I have. I am open to getting Adobe if that's the best solution. I want guidance on the best solution then help to install it and test that it meets my needs.
