Simple PCB Design for Arduino Nano ESP32 Control System
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Overview
Note to Freelancer: Please let me know that you read the description to be considered.
If you see any opportunities to simplify this design, reduce the number of components, or make the project more efficient, please let me know! I’m looking to keep the project as cost-effective and straightforward as possible, so any suggestions for reducing parts or streamlining the setup would be appreciated. If you can use a more simple SD Card module that will plug into the new PCB even better! Looking for plug and play as much as possible.
Thank you!
The project involves:
Creating a new PCB where an Arduino Nano ESP32 with headers plugs in and works with an SD Card Module to retrieve and play an audio file.
Using the DY-SV5W audio module to play sound based on a signal read from an existing PCB.
Including a switch to toggle between two speakers.
Using JST 2.0 mm 2 pin connectors for all JST connections.
Components and Connections
Arduino Nano ESP32 - Main controller
DY-SV5W Module - Plays audio files from an SD card (or choose something different that is readily available)
JST PH 2.0mm 2-pin connectors - Three connectors for the following:
JST #1 - Signal from the Old PCB (to detect when to play audio)
JST #2 - Connection to the Old Speaker
JST #3 - Connection to the New Speaker
Switch - Toggles between Old Speaker (JST #2) and New Speaker (JST #3)
USB-C Power Supply - Powers the Arduino
Sample code attached in project .pdf.
The Arduino Nano ESP32 will:
Monitor JST #1 for a signal.
Depending on the switch position, play audio on either the old or new speaker (JST #2 or JST #3).
Play the sound file up to 38 seconds and stop until it detects a new signal on JST #1.
Here’s a basic setup for the Arduino code and wiring schematic.
Arduino Code for DY-SV5W Control.
Wiring Schematic Description
Arduino Nano ESP32:
Pin D2 (TX) and Pin D3 (RX) → DY-SV5W module
Pin D4 → JST #1 for signal detection
Pin D5 → Switch to toggle between speakers
DY-SV5W Module:
TX and RX connect to Arduino Pins D2 and D3
Speaker Outputs go to JST #2 and JST #3 (through the switch)
Switch:
One terminal connects to GND.
Other terminal connects to Pin D5 on Arduino.
Switch selects between JST #2 and JST #3 based on the output speaker selection.
How It Works
When a signal is detected on JST #1, the Arduino checks the switch's position.
Based on the switch, it sends a command to play the audio on either JST #2 or JST #3.
The audio file plays for 38 seconds and stops.
If the signal goes low or no longer detected, the playback stops.
Additional Tips
Ensure all connections are stable on your PCB, especially the JST connectors, since these will be plug-and-play.
Test the timing with the actual audio file to confirm it plays within the set delay.
Use pull-up or pull-down resistors if needed for stable signal detection from the JST connectors.
Looking for completed PCB Design that I can upload to PCBWAY or JLCPCB for manufacturing and the supporting Arduino code to work with your design.
The preferred PCB size and shape is standard size and rectangular. The design should prioritize a compact layout to minimize the PCB size. The PCB design should support standard audio quality output from the DY-SV5W module or similar module.
Please use a MicroSD Card module in the design. If you have the ability to add small etched designs on the New PCB design for the toggle switch positions let me know.
