Prototyping Double-Sided PCB Design

Job ID: 38364925

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

For this project, I am looking to partner with an experienced PCB designer. Our aim will be to put together a complex, double-sided PCB prototype that uses both active and passive components.

Key Project Details:

- Purpose: Our primary goal is to prototype a functioning PCB for testing and fine-tuning purposes.
- Components: We will be utilizing both active and passive components in our prototype. You should be familiar with a variety of components and know how to incorporate them into a cohesive design.
- Complexity: Our PCB will be double-sided, meaning you'll need to handle the added intricacy of creating a design that works on both sides of the board.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

- Extensive experience in PCB design, especially for prototyping purposes.
- Strong knowledge of active and passive components.
- Familiarity with double-sided PCB designs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Please ensure you share your previous work portfolio, highlighting any experience you may have with similar projects. Looking forward to working together to make this prototype a success.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request your services for the design and fabrication of a printed circuit board (PCB) for a prototype project. The primary components of this PCB will be an ESP32 microcontroller unit (MCU) and a small LCD screen, which will be driven via the SPI bus. Below are the detailed requirements and specifications for the PCB:

### Project Overview
The goal of this project is to develop a prototype device that leverages the ESP32 MCU for its robust capabilities and integrates a small LCD screen for display purposes. The prototype will be used for testing and development purposes, and it is crucial that the design allows for ease of use and scalability.

### PCB Requirements
1. **Microcontroller Unit (MCU)**
- **Type**: ESP32
- **Module**: Preferably use an off-the-shelf ESP32 development module (e.g., ESP32-WROOM-32)

2. **LCD Screen**
- **Type**: Small TFT LCD
- **Interface**: SPI bus
- **Model**: Open to suggestions, but it should be readily available and compatible with the ESP32

3. **Power Supply**
- **Input Voltage**: 5V via USB or alternative power input
- **Voltage Regulation**: Include necessary regulators to ensure stable operation of the ESP32 and LCD

4. **Connectivity**
- **Wi-Fi**: Integrated with ESP32
- **Bluetooth**: Integrated with ESP32

5. **I/O Interfaces**
- **SPI Bus**: For LCD communication
- **GPIO Pins**: Expose several general-purpose input/output pins for future expansion
- **Additional Interfaces**: UART, I2C, and other commonly used interfaces should be accessible

6. **Physical Dimensions**
- **Form Factor**: Compact design to fit within a 100mm x 100mm area, if possible
- **Mounting Holes**: Include mounting holes for secure installation

7. **Additional Components**
- **Buttons**: Include at least two push buttons for user interaction
- **LEDs**: Include a few status LEDs (power, activity, etc.)

8. **Silkscreen and Labeling**
- Clear labeling of all connectors, interfaces, and major components on the PCB silkscreen
- Include versioning information and a company logo

### Deliverables
1. **PCB Design Files**
- Schematic and layout files in a commonly used format (e.g., Eagle, KiCad, Altium)
2. **Bill of Materials (BOM)**
- Detailed BOM with part numbers, quantities, and supplier information
3. **Gerber Files**
- For PCB fabrication
4. **Assembled PCB Prototypes**
- Quantity: 5 units for initial testing

### Timeline and Budget
- **Timeline**: We aim to have the PCB design completed within 4 weeks and the first batch of prototypes within 8 weeks.
- **Budget**: Please provide a detailed quotation for the design, fabrication, and assembly services.
