PCB Design for Long-Distance OneWire Sensor Network with Integrated Arduino Mega Interface

Job ID: 39547630

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I’m looking for a skilled electronics engineer to design a robust and reliable PCB that supports a OneWire sensor network in an industrial environment. The board must interface directly with an Arduino Mega and handle up to 20 DS18B20 temperature sensors, each connected over distances ranging from 40 to 250 meters.

Key Requirements:
• Support for 20 independent OneWire lines per PCB
• Up to 15 DS18B20 sensors per line
• Voltage stabilization via onboard voltage regulators (optimized for parasitic power mode using only data and ground wires)
• EMI protection using filtering capacitors and good PCB layout practices
• Direct GPIO integration with Arduino Mega (no intermediary hardware needed)
• Modular and scalable design to support future expansion or multiple units

Deliverables:
• Schematics, Bill of Materials (BOM) with part numbers, Gerber files, and editable source files compatible with tools like KiCad, Altium Designer, Eagle, or EasyEDA
• LED indicators per OneWire line to check power status or shorts
• Screw terminal blocks suitable for ~AWG 24 / 0.25mm² wires (preferred over RJ45 connectors)
• Recommendations on external power supply specifications
• Assistance during the testing phase is highly appreciated.

Background:
Previous setups using Arduino Mega with multiple long OneWire lines suffered from sensor disconnections and instability due to voltage drop and electrical noise. This project aims to replace that approach with a dedicated PCB solution designed for industrial use while ensuring component availability and cost-efficiency for potential manufacturing of small batches (~30 units).
